I see the trees
Silhouettes on the sky
Silhouettes on the sky
Faint outlines of the world
Living things
Yet stiller than statues
More silent than shadows
When there is no wind
Nearly immortal,
Or as close you can get to it
Trees I see at sunset
When the atmosphere turns crimson
And bleeds
Clouds form like mountains
Or deserts going dark with rain
And tears fall on the earth
Cascading down my hair
The trees seeing everything
Because they are everywhere
Standing in rigid forests
Sculpting the world
One branch at a time
